Use a visit to check how the home works for your household. Keep a separate note for each flat so you can compare the same details when you get home.
Before travelling
- Ask for the exact address and floor number, current asking price and whether the floor is ready to visit.
- Confirm the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, approximate plot size and measured internal area.
- Share any access requirements and ask whether the lift is working.
- Bring furniture measurements, a tape measure and your list of questions.
Inside the flat
- Measure the bedrooms and living space, including clearance around wardrobes and doors.
- Check daylight, ventilation and noise with the windows open and closed.
- Check taps, bathroom drainage, water pressure and signs of damp.
- Ask which kitchen fittings, lights, fans and wardrobes are included in the agreed price.
In the building and street
- See the allocated parking space and check entry and turning space for your car.
- Ask how the lift, backup power and shared maintenance are managed.
- Check the stairs, common areas, separate meters and water storage.
- Walk the route to the metro and check the street at a time relevant to your commute.
Before agreeing to a payment
Ask the seller for the property documents and a written total cost, including what is included and what is charged separately. Record the payment schedule and any booking cancellation terms in writing.
Ask your bank what it needs to evaluate the specific property. Have an independent qualified professional review the property papers and any registration or approval claims before you commit.
